The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira (PSD-MG), once again defended the addition of 35% ethanol to gasoline. Silveira participated, this Friday (26), in the opening of the Minas Gerais sugar cane harvest, in Uberaba, in the Triangulo Mineiro.

“The last time I was here, we had a plan to increase the ethanol blend to 30%. Now, we have E35 on the horizon, with up to 35% ethanol in the composition of gasoline. Let’s set an example of decarbonization in our mobility transport matrix. And we will do this through biofuels. We have soil, water, a favorable climate, technology and the need to create jobs”, he highlighted.

The minister also celebrated the approval of the Bill that creates the Fuel of the Future Program, which passed through the Chamber of Deputies and awaits evaluation by the Senate.

Minas Gerais

With strong sugar-energy, Minas plays a fundamental role in the production of clean and renewable energy and in the energy transition. The state has 36 plants in operation, with producers in 108 of the 853 municipalities in Minas Gerais, and almost 170 thousand jobs related to the sector.
