Coronel Leite, known for participating in survival reality shows on the Discovery Channel, is in Porto Alegre and Canoas, to help rescue victims affected by the floods. “In 39 years of the Brazilian Air Force, of these… 25 years in Rescue Squadrons and I have never experienced a tragedy of such proportion,” he wrote on social media.
The former soldier took advantage of his visibility to give recommendations to the population who are interested in helping the victims in Rio Grande do Sul.”I know a lot of people would like to come and help, but DON’T DO IT NOW. More people means more demand for resources,” she explained.
Protagonist of the reality show ‘Desafio em Dose Dupla-Brasil’, Coronel Leite is also known for having worked in the search and rescue team of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) in Rio de Janeiro. He helped rescue victims in the crash of GOL 1907 and in the Brumadinho dam.
The professional also gave recommendations on items that are a priority and that are missing for the population of Rio Grande do Sul. “Right now the greatest need is an INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL HYGIENE KIT. Then MINERAL WATER. Cleaning supplies will be available when the waters recede. Basic food baskets only later…no one has anywhere to get food now. Provide READY FOOD KIT (biscuits, cereal bars, nuts, etc)… ready-made lunch boxes are going bad”, she informed.
