Book rescues the history of handball and its pioneer in Minas < No Attack

Tuesday, April 30th, at 7:30 pm, at the headquarters of Clube Ginástico (Avenida Afonso Pena, 3328), located in the Center-South Region of Belo Horizonte. These are the day, time and place in which the story of a sport, handball, in Minas Gerais, will be told. This is when the book “Professor Lincoln Raso, the handball man” will be released.

This is not a biography. The work itself reports facts, mainly memories, and brings a large number of messages to rescue values, once forgotten or even neglected in these modern times.

The work is a collective construction carried out by a group of people directly linked to Professor Lincoln Raso, relatives and also students and athletes, under the coordination of his sons Guilherme and Gustavo Raso and Professor Adailton Eustáquio Magalhães.

The idea arose and was implemented by the Lincoln Raso Institute (www.institutolincolnraso.org.br) and seeks to document facts, passages and memories that marked the life of this master of sport, education, work and the art of positively influencing people, in addition to recording a little of the history of the implementation of handball in Minas Gerais, rescuing, through witnesses, important experiences and information with a record of the paternity of its legacy for the guidance of new generations.

Handball in Minas Gerais

Lincoln Raso first brought handball to Colégio Estadual Central, in Belo Horizonte. From there, he went to the clubs and found a partner, Ginástico, through one of its founders, Fernando Malta, who embraced the idea.

And it worked, Gymnastics became a reference for this sport nationally. The team that had Toco, Gustavo – both sons of Lincoln -, Bacalhau, Fred, Lelei, Jamanta, Grego, Lúcio, Chato, Robusto and Canhão became the basis of the Brazilian team, especially after winning the second Brazilian championship in the 1990s. 1970.
