Responsible for the core activity of the Court of Auditors of Amazonas (TCE-AM), the house’s external control auditors were honored, this Friday morning (26), in a seminar held in room 01 of the School of Public Accounts ( ECP). The meeting was held in reference to National External Control Auditor Day, celebrated this Saturday (27).

The event featured a round table with debates on new technologies, coordinated auditing experiences and also on the Blitz TCE program, in addition to a lecture on the use of artificial intelligence in auditing.

The date was established in 2012 by the National Association of External Control Auditors of the Audit Courts of Brazil (ANTC) to honor these professionals who play a fundamental role in defending morality and transparency in Public Administration.

Present at the event and representing the president-advisor Yara Amazônia Lins, the general secretary of Administration, Antônio Rosa Júnior, highlighted the representativeness of the date for TCE-AM.

“Today’s president, counselor Yara Amazônia Lins was once a civil servant, so there is a great appreciation for our civil servants and, especially, for the auditors, those who carry out the body’s core activities. The president’s mission, which was passed on to us, is to provide full support to the Secretariat of External Control (Secex) in whatever can be done, so that we can deliver a job well done to the Amazonian community,” she said.

For the Secretary of External Control, Stanley Scherrer, the external control auditor performs an essential function to protect the treasury, for the democratic rule of law and democracy.

“They are the friends of governance, efficiency, effectiveness and effectiveness. It is through them that the initial instruction is made, the entire external control process begins with the external control auditor. A good way to measure the strength of a Court of Auditors is to measure the strength of its technical body, so this shows the importance of this function for society and the State as a whole”, said the secretary of Secex.

Lecture

The director of Artificial Intelligence at TCE-AM, Arlesson Anjos, gave a lecture on the use of information and communication technology applied to auditing, including Artificial Intelligence.

“The focus is to show all the technological resources that exist today that can be used for a more efficient audit. Innovation is essential in public administration, so we have to use all the tools available to have more productivity at work, and Artificial Intelligence is another one of these tools, which we are seeing the best way to apply in the day-to-day life of the ombudsman” , he explained.

Historical context

The president of the TCE-AM External Control Auditors Association (AudTCE), Hugo Tavares, recalled the historical importance of choosing the date of April 27th as a tribute to external control auditors. In 1893, when the then Minister of Finance Serzedello Corrêa presented a letter of resignation in a courageous act to confront the attempt by the then President of the Republic, Floriano Peixoto, to curtail the activities of the Federal Audit Court.

“I encourage external control auditors to remain firm and with the courage of the former Minister of Finance in the government of then President Floriano Peixoto, who at that time when the President wanted to implement an act that violated the professional rights of auditors , rebelled and removed himself from office in revolt over what happened. So we can remain firm to carry out the activity in favor of what society expects from us”, he commented.
