This year alone, six people were arrested for energy theft in the state. Two in the last action of Operation Clean Energy carried out in Cuiabá by the Public Security Secretariat and the Mato Grosso energy concessionaire.
The owners of the two houses were at the scene and were arrested for energy theft. In the houses inspected there was a direct connection, together they totaled around R$300,000 in debts with the concessionaire, and of this total, more than R$73,500 in taxes.
Residents were taken to the police station and instructed to negotiate their debts and regularize their energy with Energisa.
