The producer Steve Albini, an important name in alternative rock, died at the age of 61, victim of a heart attack. The information was confirmed by a member of the artist’s studio this Wednesday, 8.
Albini was an important figure for grunge, having worked on landmark albums such as In Uteroby Nirvana, Pink Surferby Pixies, and Rid of me, by PJ Harvey. Despite being known as a producer, he preferred to be called an audio engineer.
In addition to working in the studio control room, Albini was a vocalist and guitarist for the groups Shellac and Big Black.
