Author of stabbing attack on Bolsonaro has new deadline to leave MS prison – Capital

The new deadline for Adélio Bispo de Oliveira, author of the attack against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), to be transferred from the Campo Grande Federal Penitentiary to Mina Gerais is June 21st.

On February 22, the Federal Court of the Capital had ordered that he be taken to his homeland. The transfer should be carried out within 60 days, therefore by April 22nd.

But, according to the DPU (Federal Public Defender’s Office), the deadline initially set was then extended for another 60 days, starting this month.

Also according to the defense, on February 25, the 3rd Federal Civil and Criminal Court of the Judiciary Subsection of Juiz de Fora (Minas Gerais) issued an order requesting that the return of Adélio Bispo de Oliveira would only take place after a positive response from the Secretary of State of Health of Minas Gerais regarding the existence of vacancies in a hospital referenced by CAPS (Psychosocial Care Center) in Juiz de Fora.

“The Public Defender’s Office did not oppose the request, as long as any extension of the deadline was not unreasonable or for an indefinite period.”

Adélio has been in the Campo Grande federal prison since September 8, 2018. That year, in the center of Juiz de Fora, he stabbed the then candidate for president during the election campaign. But the prisoner was considered unaccountable, that is, unable to answer for his actions.

The transfer request was made by the DPU based on the so-called Anti-Asylum Law, which prohibits the hospitalization of people with mental disorders in penal establishments or in institutions with asylum characteristics that lack comprehensive assistance.
