With the support of the Government of the State of Pará, through the Department of Sport and Leisure (Seel), athlete Maria Sofia won the bronze medal, in the 3rd edition of the Brazilian Youth Paralympic Bocce Championship, in the BC3 category, for athletes with highest degree of motor impairment, athlete Lauan Nascimento came in fourth place, in BC1, which is intended for athletes with cerebral palsy. The Championship was held between the 15th and 20th of this month, at Sesc Portão, in Coritiba-PR.

The Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, highlights the achievement of athlete Maria Sofia and everyone who participated representing the State of Pará. “We at the Government of the State of Pará, through Seel, are happy for this achievement of young Maria, and of everyone who represents our state, that makes us proud! I want to congratulate the teachers who work daily with these children and adolescents”, said the secretary.

For Maria Bilino’s coach/teacher, Valdir Aguiar, this achievement is very important for an athlete who is starting to discover the sport. “This is very important for the athlete, because she is starting to discover the sport now. She was very happy. Who knows, maybe in the future they could go ahead and win first place. So this is very important for Maria Sofia, this achievement”, said the professor.

The mother of athlete Lauan Nascimento, Lucilene Oliveira, highlights the importance of sport in her son’s life and the support that Seel has been giving in sport. “Sport represents a lot of things in my son’s life, such as: communication, good commitment, more disposition and it is a complement to his life, it is what he likes to do. Seel is very important in this role of inclusion, because it helps us with tickets, because we can’t travel, so Seel is being very important, we thank God first, then secretary Cássio Andrade for the support and the project at Tuna Headquarters”, he said.

The Parádesporto Program, from the State Department of Sport and Leisure (Seel), aims to boost the inclusion of these young people in adapted sports in the State of Pará, with free sporting activities for people with disabilities (PwD), from 9 to 17 years, for nine sports, which are held at the headquarters of Tuna Luso Brasileira in Belém.
