After winning the first game of the quarterfinals of Novo Basquete Brasil 2023/24 (NBB) at home, Sesi Franca visits Paulistano at Ginásio Antônio Prado Jr, this Monday (6), at 7pm. Looking for their second consecutive title in the competition, the French team started the dispute well by winning 64-61 at Pedrocão, in the basketball capital. The second match of the best-of-five series will be broadcast on Youtube from NBB CAIXAUOL Portal and NBB BasketballPass (pay-per-view).

The first match was marked by moments of ups and downs for the teams. Paulistano took the lead in the first quarter, but dropped in performance in the following minutes and went into the break losing 33 to 27. In the second half, Sesi Franca managed to open a good advantage on the scoreboard, leading the game by 14 points. But in the last four minutes of the game, Paulistano made a final push, reducing the difference to just three. In the end, Franca managed to avoid the turnover to make it 1-0.

The highlight of Sesi Franca’s victory was Argentine Santiago Scala. The point guard was the team’s top scorer with 16 points and also had nine rebounds and five assists. But the scorer of the match was Dória, from Paulistano, with 18 points scored in the match. In the NBB classification phase, coach Helinho’s men won both duels. In the round, at Ginásio Pedrocão, the home team won 89 to 50. In the return, with Paulistano as home team, the Francans won 98 to 76.

Dispute format

Furthermore, it is worth remembering that the quarterfinals are defined in a best of five matches, with the first being at the home of the team with the best campaign. In turn, in the following two clashes, the home team is the team with the worst campaign. Finally, if necessary, games 4 and 5 return to the home of the best placed team. The second and third games are scheduled for next Monday (6) and Wednesday (8), both at 7pm, at the Antônio Prado Júnior gym, in São Paulo.
