A Justice of Rio de Janeiro partially granted the precautionary measures requested by the nutritionist Marianna Balbiwho filed a criminal complaint against the lawyer and undersecretary of State of the Cabinet of the governor of River, Victor Travancasby persecution and threat.
According to the court order, Travancas must maintain a distance of 300 meters from Marianna, her family and witnesses to the alleged harassment. Victor Travancas was also prohibited from trying to contact the victim through social networks and other electronic means of communication, in addition to having to delete posts and not make others that mention Marianna Balbi. If the lawyer fails to comply with the orders, he may be arrested.
According to Band Rio, the persecution of Balbi would have started due to Travancas’ interest in having a romantic relationship with her. Something the victim never wanted. The two had already worked together for a few years.
“This situation is getting worse and worse, because he hurts me a lot, not only with relationships, work, but mentally too, mainly. I wake up thinking there is a person behind me, I sleep thinking there is a person behind me”, reported the nutritionist to the vehicle.
They were attached to the court case, prints of conversations between the two, in which Victor Travancas lovingly declares himself to Marianna and others in which he makes threats. Through a social network, the nutritionist would have received an audio from the lawyer with a charge of R$50,000 – the amount he would have spent on the victim.
“There will be a banner on the door of your gym, there will be a banner on the door of your house, there will be a banner on the door of your brother’s new condominium, charging you. I want my 50 thousand reais that you owe me and you will pay me. So come forward with what you owe me, because I’m not kidding this time, your life is going to become hell within the law”, said Victor Travancas in the audio.
In a video, the lawyer denied the accusations and stated that the relationship between them was one of friendship. Travancas also said that he would have paid for Marianna Balbi’s college tuition.
“This story is possibly a fight that she is misinterpreting. Beauty. But this ends, when we realize that this is false, harming the person who is truly being threatened”, said the lawyer in the video.
Granted in December 2023, the protective measure is valid for 90 days, with the possibility of renewal. The Fluminense undersecretary requested a habeas corpus from the Court. The process takes place in secret.
The broadcaster would have contacted the Secretariat of Civil Housewhere Travancas works, but has not heard back.
