Only 6.18% of the target audience was vaccinated against dengue in Acre just over a month after the start of the campaign. The data is from appointments made until March 26th. In real numbers, the State Department of Health (Sesacre) applied 2,968 doses of the 17,810 received in February.

The campaign began in Acre on February 16th, offering services to children and adolescents aged 10 to 11 in 11 municipalities. The doses sent during that period expire on April 30th and, according to Sesacre’s balance sheet, there are 856 of these doses still in stock.

Qdenga is a vaccine developed by the Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda and is made with the attenuated dengue virus. This means that the vaccine contains the live virus, but weakened in the laboratory, which makes it safe to be applied without causing the disease.

The vaccination schedule consists of two doses with an interval of three months between applications. The age group of the target audience at first was chosen because it contains the highest number of hospitalizations due to denguewithin the framework of children and adolescents aged 6 to 16.

At the time, the coordinator of the National Immunization Program in Acre (PNI), Renata Quiles said that the release of doses was done due to low adherence and the large amount of stock.

“If demand remains low, while there is stock, we will signal the Ministry of Health to formalize a request to extend vaccination to the other health regions in the state. We call on parents to vaccinate their children and we will thus avoid serious cases of the disease,” he said at the time.

On the 28th, the Ministry of Health released the list of new cities that received immunization to continue the campaign against dengue. Acre received 6,400 doses, which were distributed among the other 11 municipalities that were not included in the first shipment.

The city of Santa Rosa do Purus, which received doses in the first batch, once again received immunizations from the federal government.

  1. Assis Brasil – 400 doses
  2. Brasiléia – 600 doses
  3. Cruzeiro do Sul – 3 thousand doses
  4. Epitaciolândia – 300 doses
  5. Beans – 400 servings
  6. Mâncio Lima – 300 doses
  7. Marshal Thaumauturgo – 200 doses
  8. Porto Walter – 200 doses
  9. Rodrigues Alves – 200 doses
  10. Santa Rosa do Purus – 200 doses
  11. Tarauacá – 400 doses
  12. Xapuri – 200 doses

The immunization campaign in these municipalities began this Monday (1st).

Does Qdenga have side effects?
