The Finance Department, through the RE (State Revenue), started a new self-regularization program, this time for the dairy sector in Brazil. In total, 355 establishments are asked to regularize by May 31st. The evidence is that R$3 million in ICMS (Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services) is owed.

The initiative focuses on values related to the sale of long-life milk without the appropriate emphasis on ICMS in tax documents relating to operations. The period in which the irregularities were detected by the Rio Grande do Sul tax authorities runs from April 1, 2019 to October 31, 2023.

Communication for self-regularization is available through companies’ electronic mailboxes. In the restricted area of the e-CAC Portal (Virtual Taxpayer Service Center), in the Self-regularization tab, the calculation of the identified divergence and the necessary procedures are available.

Service to taxpayers included in the programs is the responsibility of the Self-Regulation Shared Services Center (CSC Self-Regulation) and is carried out exclusively through the website. If the divergences found persist, companies are subject to opening a tax action procedure, with the imposition of the corresponding fine.

The program is inserted in the context of RE regularization actions, with massive inspection of taxpayers, allowing them to return to regularity with less burden than repressive procedures. This operating model has as its central objectives tax justice and encouraging voluntary compliance with tax obligations, reducing litigation between tax authorities and taxpayers.
