The federal universities of Bahia (Ufba) and Southern Bahia (UFSB) achieved the maximum score of 5 in the General Course Index (IGC), according to data released by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) on Tuesday- fair (2). The IGC is an indicator that evaluates the quality of higher education institutions considering several aspects, such as student performance in Enade, academic evolution, infrastructure, teacher qualifications and postgraduate evaluation by Capes.
Among the 111 federal institutions and universities evaluated, 20 achieved the highest range (range 5, very high), while 74 were in the second level of performance (range 4, high) and the remainder in range 3 (medium).
In addition to Ufba and UFSB, other Brazilian universities such as UnB, UFSCar, UFV, UFRN, UFPR, UFMG, UFPE, UFRGS, UFSM, UFC, UFSC, UFRJ, Unifesp, UFLA, UFCSPA, UFABC, ITA and IME also obtained the grade maximum of 5 in the IGC. The State University of Bahia (Uneb) achieved grade 4 on the index.
