Even with job offers on the rise and qualification courses, Mato Grosso do Sul still faces a lack of labor and, as a result, there are job vacancies.

The head of Semadesc (Secretariat for Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation), Jaime Verruck, cites two problems: the lack of education and the need for qualifications.

“The conditions are extremely favorable in terms of labor availability. But people ask: ‘why is someone unemployed?’ There is a problem with education, a population of 30, 40 thousand people who we call invisible. There is a vacancy, but she can’t get there because she has no education. It is a problem that can be resolved in the long term. The second is qualification, you are qualified for a certain activity, but the job is in another. Then comes the whole issue of qualification”, he pointed out.

Given the situation, the State Government started to look at the current demand. “We changed the logic a little. Today, 50% of available professional qualification vacancies are not filled. We changed a little and we are looking at the demand side, which is when there is the product, but there are no workers”.

Still according to Verruck, currently, Mato Grosso do Sul has around 20 thousand vacancies available due to a lack of qualified labor.

Software – The State Government has invested in MS Qualifica (Professional Qualification Plan for Inclusion, Productivity and Employment in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul).

The State Government’s goal is to provide conditions for around 132 thousand people from Mato Grosso do Sul to be effectively allocated to the job market.

Launched in May 2023, the project focuses on transformation through worker training. To this end, programs such as Voucher Transportedor were created, which is training labor for the job market in the transport of goods.

The Developer Voucher was also offered, which was launched on November 21st of last year. 400 places were offered to students from the State Education Network.
