The Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG), through Procon-MG, held this Monday, April 1st, a meeting with representatives of the Cimerp Consortium to discuss the expansion of services aimed at defending consumer rights in the Zone of Mata Mineira.

The Cimerp consortium, based in Muriaé, brings together 27 municipalities ( Além Paraíba, Antônio Prado de Minas, Barão do Monte Alto, Coimbra, Divino, Ervália, Estrela Dalva, Eugenópolis, Fervedouro, Guiricema, Laranjal, Miradouro, Miraí, Muriaé, Orizânia , Palma, Patrocínio do Muriaé, Pedra Dourada, Pirapetinga, Recreio, Rosário da Limeira, Santana de Cataguases, São Francisco do Glória, São Geraldo, São Sebastião da Vargem Alegre, Senador Firmino and Vieiras).

To meet the population’s demand, the consortium intends to create 20 service units and one regional one. In these locations, the population will be able to register complaints and have access to consumer education initiatives.

The cities Barão do Monte Alto, Laranjal, Vieiras, Palma, Patrocínio do Muriaé and Rosário da Limeira already have laws approved for the creation of Procon Regional, which will be inaugurated in the coming days.

Procon Regional also intends to operate on an itinerant basis with the support of Faminas College, in Muriaé. Teams will go to the consortium municipalities to promote educational activities.

The expectation is that in a short time the majority of municipalities in the Médio Rio Pomba microregion, listed above, will join Procon Regional. Regionalization will guarantee the democratization of the service and efficient service to citizens of all consortium municipalities.
