Coral Gables (USA) – 14-year-old São Paulo teenager Nauhany Silva is in the quarterfinals of the ITF J100 in Coral Gables, on clay courts in the United States. Seeded 7th in the tournament, Nauhany beat Ukrainian Aleksandra Kyselova 6/4 and 6/2.
This Wednesday’s victory was the third of the week for Nauhany, who occupies 347th place in the ranking and is qualified for Roland Garros after winning the Junior Series in São Paulo. She debuted by beating the American Nicole Okhtenberg by 6/4 and 6/3. And in the round of 16, she beat fellow host Sophia Holod 7/6 (8-6) and 6/3.
Nauhany has two tournament titles on the ITF under-18 world circuit, a J30 in Guatemala and a J60 in Itajaí last year. In the current season, she reached the quarterfinals in the Brasil Juniors Cup, J300 tournament in Porto Alegre. Her next rival is local guest Bella Payne.
Thomas Miranda and Gabriela Félix in the quarterfinals in Lima
Thomas Miranda from São Paulo and Gabriela Félix from Rio are in the quarterfinals of the ITF J60 in Lima, on clay courts. Both have already won two games in the Peruvian capital.
Miranda beat two local tennis players, Diego Gomez by double 6/3 and Gianfranco Perez by 6/1 and 6/2. He faces Ecuadorian Jose Andres Perez. Gabi beat guests Camila Caceres by 6/3 and 6/2 and Silvana Fajardo by 4/6, 6/2 and 6/0. Her next rival is Argentine Zoe Lazar.
Quarterfinals in Chile, Colombia and Jamaica
Brazilian tennis has six representatives in the quarterfinals of the ITF J30 in Santiago, with the right to two national duels. Washington de Matos against Rafael Padilha in the men’s group, and Isabeli Andreola against Isabela Gontijo in the women’s group. Also in the quarterfinals are Isadora Sigrist against local seed Agustina Soto Neira, and Leonardo Lovalho against Chilean Jose Luis Puentes.
At the ITF J30 in Pereira, Colombia, two Brazilians are in the quarterfinals and face local tennis players: João Pedro Prudêncio against Juan Jose Rodriguez, while Luca Laurindo plays against Juan Arcila. And at the ITF J30 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Marcco Iannoni will play against the American Tadevos Mirijanyan.
