The body of app driver Willames Assunção, 39 years old, who was missing, was found, this Tuesday (2), on the Lira River, in Sorriso, 420km from Cuiabá. The victim disappeared after leaving for work on Monday (1st). So far, no one has been arrested.
The victim was identified by relatives at the scene. According to the Military Police, Willames’ wife informed the teams that the driver left her at work and went to work around 1 pm.
The Special Border Group (Gefron) reported that two crime suspects were located inside the victim’s car on BR-174.
According to Gefron, after noticing the presence of the police, the men parked the vehicle and fled into a forested area. According to police, there was a confrontation with the suspects, who ended up being shot.
The team took the suspects to a hospital in Porto Esperidião, 358 km from the capital, to receive medical care, however, the two resisted and died during the journey.
Still according to Gefron, the two confessed to being responsible for the robbery and said they intended to flee to Bolivia, where they would sell the stolen vehicle.
The case is investigated by the Civil Police.
