-

In the first quarter of 2024, SC exports totaled US$2.6 billion, marking a 4.0% drop compared to the same period of the previous year. Despite the decline, this value represents the second highest amount exported for the quarter in the historical series, behind only that recorded in the same period in 2023.

As for exported volume, the state reached its highest level for the first quarter since 1997, the beginning of the historical series, showing a growth of 15.8% on the same basis of comparison.

Electric motors, which are part of the capital goods chain, occupy third place on the 2024 export list.

In 2023, Santa Catarina had a negative balance of trade of US$17.2 billion. It exported US$11.57 billion and imported US$28.77 billion. The main products exported were commodities such as protein – poultry and pork, plus soy.

Santa Catarina’s main trading partner last year was China, with 15% of Santa Catarina’s exports going to that Asian country.
