The mayor of Contagem, Marília Campos (PT), spoke about the dengue epidemic experienced in the city in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The chief executive participated live in the General Balance of MG, this Monday (01), and said that the city has already received 38 thousand reported cases of the disease.

Marília Campos detailed the actions carried out by the municipal administration, which opened two hydration centers to serve the population infected by the disease. “This is important not only to provide better service to the population, but also to relieve the UPAs that are very overloaded”, said the mayor.

In addition to the hydration centers, 17 basic health units are providing extended-day care. The city hall also uses support from the army to visit homes and promote awareness among the population.

Asked about the elections for Mayor that will take place in October this year, Marília Campos said that, at the moment, she is worried about being mayor and that she will “work to establish this relationship of commitment that I made with the people of Contagem”.

The mayor also commented on public transport in the city, the disruption caused by the rain and the situation of municipal education in Contagem.
