Rural producers will be subject, from next Wednesday (1st), to the mandatory issuance of the Electronic Producer Invoice (NFP-e). The transition to the new type of tax document will be phased.

Initially, the requirement will apply to all interstate operations in the sector, in addition to those carried out by rural producers who have had revenues exceeding R$1 million in 2023.

From December 1, 2024, the note will also be mandatory for other rural producers in internal operations, that is, those carried out within the State itself. The document is exclusively digital, issued and stored electronically, intended to record, for tax purposes, transactions involving the circulation of goods.

Since January 2021, rural producers with annual revenues exceeding R$200,000 were already required to use electronic invoices in interstate operations. Little by little, the obligation will extend to all operations, both internal and interstate.

Mandatory adherence to the document was initially scheduled to come into force in May 2023. In April of last year, however, Confaz extended the adherence period by one year, and now foresees scaling according to the rural producer’s revenue.

The note issuing system is available on the State Revenue portal.
