The Argentine League Cup will have an unprecedented champion. Estudiantes beat Boca Juniors on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the semi-final and qualified to face Vélez Sarsfield in the tournament final next Sunday. The winner guarantees a place in the 2025 Libertadores.

Fortaleza’s rival in the Copa Sudamericana, Boca Juniors reached the semi-finals after overcoming rivals River Plate in the quarter-finals. And he came out ahead of Estudiantes at Mario Alberto Kempes, in Córdoba. At 40 in the first half, Advíncula crossed from the right, and Merentiel completed the goal.

Grêmio’s opponent in the Libertadores, the La Plata team reacted in the second stage. At 26, Lema tried to deflect a cross ball and hit Palacios in the face with his foot. The champion is guaranteed in next year’s Libertadores.
