O Leicester City became the greatest champion of Second Division of the English Championship by beating Preston North End 3-0, this Monday (29/4), at the Deepdale stadium, in Preston. The teams faced each other in the 45th round of the competition.

Leicester’s goals were scored by Jamie Vardy (2) and Kasey McAteer. With the result, the club reached 97 points and can no longer be reached by second-placed Ipswich Town, who have 93.

To date, Leicester City’s campaign is 31 wins, four draws and 10 defeats. The club’s greatest idol, Vardy, 37, has scored 18 goals in 34 matches in the EFL Championship. Overall, there are 191 balls in the net in 466 games.

How many Second Division titles do Leicester have?

Champion in 2023/2024, Leicester isolated itself as the record holder for English Second Division titles, with eight trophies. The Foxes left the Manchester City, holder of seven achievements. Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Norwich have five cups.

Leicester won the Second Division in 1924/1925, 1936/1937, 1953/1954, 1956/1957, 1970/1971, 1979/1980, 2013/2014 and 2023/2024. The main achievements of the club founded in 1884 are the Premier League in 2015/2016 and the FA Cup in 2020/2021.
