Fama takes well-being and health actions to military battalions

The Faculdade Metropolitana de Anápolis (FAMA) began, on the 25th and 26th of April, an innovative action, in partnership with the Military Police of the State of Goiás (PMGO), with the aim of bringing knowledge, health and well-being actions to to the military personnel who work in the PM battalions in Anápolis. According to the college, this activity occurs due to its commitment to valuing public security, “and recognizes the fundamental role played by military police officers in our society”.

The program is carried out through FAMA’s Physical Education and Nursing courses. In addition to assisting the military, the health teams also assist first-degree relatives, upon proof of relationship, for the institution’s undergraduate courses. In this first stage, the actions were carried out to cover the soldiers of the 28th Military Police Battalion, located in Vila Jaiara.

Postural activities were offered by the Physical Education course. Pressure measurement with blood glucose tests carried out by the Nursing course. The services are carried out in compliance with the instructions of the commander of the 28th BPM, Colonel Geraldo Syrio. According to Professor Edna de Melo Peres, coordinator of the undergraduate Nursing course, it is important to consider the health of police officers, especially in relation to quality of life.

The stressful and often dangerous nature of police work, the professor explained, can lead to high levels of stress, emotional exhaustion and psychological exhaustion, which can result in Burnout [a Síndrome do Esgotamento Profissional, distúrbio emocional com sintomas de exaustão extrema, estresse e esgotamento físico]. From an academic point of view, actions aimed at health and the implementation of psychological support programs, training in stress management, promotion of healthy habits and resilience strategies, can contribute to improving quality of life and preventing Syndrome. Burnout.

“Investing in health not only benefits these professionals individually, but also has a positive impact on public safety and the well-being of the community”, highlighted Edna de Melo Peres, specialist in Public Health. Through this initiative, Faculdade FAMA explains that it reaffirms its commitment to valuing public security professionals, “believing that education is a powerful tool to promote knowledge, health, transformation of lives and joint actions that contribute to improvements in coexistence Social”.

According to information from the program coordinator, the following benefits are offered to military police officers and first-degree relatives: 40% + 10% discount for undergraduate courses; for postgraduate studies, 15% discount; academic actions in the battalion; actions at the Faculty in partnership with the PM; and I use the college’s physical space for training and others.
