Fire hits shopping mall warehouse and scares customers in the West Zone of Manaus

A shopping mall located in the Ponta Negra neighborhood, West Zone of Manaus, had to be evacuated after a fire broke out in a waste deposit on Tuesday night (30). Videos taken at the scene show the movement of firefighters. There were no records of victims. Watch above.

The Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM) reported that, in total, seven vehicles were sent to the location. The flames reached a warehouse and firefighters prevented it from spreading to other establishments in the shopping center.

Immediately, the firefighters evacuated the people who were on the shopping mall premises and began fighting the incident, CBMAM said in a statement.

CBMAM also noted that as it was in a confined environment, a mechanical ventilation procedure was necessary to disperse the smoke.

In a statement, the mall simply stated that the situation had already been controlled. However, until 10:40 pm this Tuesday, fire teams were still at the scene carrying out aftermath and inspecting the area.
