The proposal authored by deputy João Henrique (PL) is being processed in the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul, which establishes the educational voucher for elementary and high school students in Mato Grosso do Sul. The value is not defined in the proposal , leaving it up to the State to define and readjust annually.
The measure is complementary to public education, with the aim of promoting freedom of educational choice for parents and guardians and providing places for economically vulnerable students in private units.
Public funding should prioritize students who did not obtain a place in a unit close to their residence, when searching for a public unit. Thus, the average value of the educational voucher will be defined annually by the State Government, and the student beneficiary’s family must prove per capita family income of up to three minimum wages.
“The proposal aims to ensure that children and adolescents have full access to education, promoting means with the private sector, in partnership with the Public Power, an example that already happens in several countries around the world, aiming to expand the academic training of students in the public network , on an equal basis with students from the private network, also promoting the generation of employment and income”, explained deputy João Henrique.
The matter is now being analyzed by the CCJR (Constitution, Justice and Writing Committee).
