Equipment will extend opening hours to meet expected demand

A tourism icon in Serra da Ibiapaba, the Ubajara Cable Car expects to receive, during the Holy Week weekend, a 25% greater flow of users, compared to other holidays. To meet the expected public demand, the Ceará Government equipment, managed by the Tourism Secretariat (Setur), will extend its opening hours.

On Friday (29) and Saturday (30), the cable car will operate an hour longer, starting operations at 8:30 am and ending at 3:30 pm. The route, which takes around four minutes each way, is free. There, users can enjoy a panoramic view of the natural beauty of the Ubajara National Park (Parna), the ninth most visited park in the country in 2023, according to the ranking released by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio).

“The equipment transports an average of 400 people every Saturday and Sunday. Our expectation, based on monitoring data on the tourist flow in the region, is to register a 25% growth in the number of users, mainly on Friday and Saturday”, assesses the Secretary of Tourism of Ceará, Yrwana Albuquerque.

The structure is made up of two cabins and has a round trip of 550 meters. The equipment is suspended by steel cables that connect the Monte and Vale stations, where the entrance to the most famous cave in Ubajara is located. In February, the cable car reached the mark of 160 thousand users transported since its reopening, becoming responsible for increasing, by around 50%, the number of visitors to where it is located.
