The Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics reported that the sowing of the corn crop in the State advanced 0.55 percentage points last week and is completed. Compared to last year and the average of the last five years, field work during the season was further advanced.

“For the entire sowing period in the State, the 2023/24 harvest was ahead of the evolution of the 2022/23 season, and still closed with more than 90% of the areas within the window considered “ideal” (28 February) in Mato Grosso . For the next few weeks, attention will increasingly turn to climatic conditions, as they are decisive factors for the development of culture in the state, mainly for the definition of productivity”, points out the institute, in the weekly bulletin.

“Thus, according to NOAA forecasts, it is expected that during the week (25/03 to 31/03) most of Mato Grosso will receive rainfall above 75 mm, which could reach up to 135 mm in some regions, which can be seen as a positive scenario”, he concludes.

The forecast is for 6.94 million hectares of corn in Mato Grosso and, at the beginning of planting, the projection was 7% lower.
