A Transcol System bus hit three people who were at a bus stop this Monday (25), on Avenida Carlos Lindenberg, in the Ataíde neighborhood, in Vila Velha. The accident happened after the vehicle tried to avoid a car that braked suddenly, as reported by the Municipal Civil Guard. The injured were taken to hospitals in Greater Vitória.
The victims were hit when the bus was turning right so as not to hit the car. The collective also ended up tearing down the pedestrian shelter on the side of the road.
The Municipal Guard closed two lanes towards Segunda Ponte to provide medical care to the victims, who were taken to hospitals in Greater Vitória. The track has now been cleared. The Military Police Traffic Battalion took over the incident.
The company responsible for the collective reported that it was investigating the incident recorded on Monday afternoon (25). There were no passengers in the bus and the driver was not injured. Three people who were at the bus stop suffered bruises and were rescued by Samu. The insurance company will be called to provide assistance to the injured.
The Military Police reported, in a note sent late this Tuesday morning (26), that, at the scene, the military observed a rear-end collision between a bus and a car, followed by the run-over of three people who were at a point by bus. According to the PM, the driver of the bus and the driver of the car were subjected to a breathalyzer test, and both results were negative for drinking alcohol. “The drivers’ licenses and the CRLVS of their respective vehicles were checked and no irregularities were found. Both vehicles were traveling in the direction of Vila Velha-Vitória,” said the corporation.
Still according to the PM, the drivers involved reported that the bus was empty, traveling in the middle lane, and changed to the right lane, when the car, which was already in the right lane, stopped, just after the bus stop and At this moment, there was a collision.
“After the collision, the bus climbed onto the sidewalk and hit the bus stop, damaging it, in addition to hitting three women, aged 31, 38 and 60, who were partially injured. The victims aged 31 and 38 were rescued by the ambulance from the Fire Department to Antônio Bezerra de Farias Hospital. The third victim was rescued by Samu at HEUE. None of them expressed interest in criminal representation”, concluded the Military Police.
The Scientific Police highlighted that expertise is only called in cases of fatal accidents and, according to the corporation, there was no call to the mentioned location.
