A soldier from the Minas Gerais Fire Department (CBMMG) is part of a Brazilian delegation on a humanitarian assistance mission sent to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana by the Federal Government, through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The South American country has been facing large fires in recent weeks.

The Brazilian military will have the mission of carrying out a joint assessment of the current situation in several regions affected by the fires.

The Brazilian delegation disembarked in the city of Lethem, where it has already met with Guyanese authorities and will continue on mission at least until Monday (29/4), a period that could extend to up to 21 days.

Firefighting specialists

Among the military personnel deployed, Lieutenant Júlio Hermínio Caldeira Brant Neto, from CBMMG, is part of the team of experts in fighting forest fires, also from corporations in the Federal District and the states of Roraima and Amazonas.

It is the first international mission for the lieutenant, who is a Medical Emergency Technician Instructor and specialized in Civil Protection and Defense.
