According to the Military Police, the pastor of the Christian temple called the agents and informed them about the theft of money. The religious leader said that he left the amount in a bag, in the office, and went to the kitchen, which is in the basement of the place, at which point he remembered that the room was open.

Upon returning, he noticed that the office door was closed. He accessed the room from another location and, upon arriving, noticed the bag open and the money was missing.

Witnesses said that the suspect, using crutches, was seen leaving the church and hiring a motorcycle taxi to take him to the bus station in the neighboring city, Aragaras (GO).

Given the facts, the police began searching for the suspect.

After investigations, it was discovered that the individual had boarded a bus bound for Bom Jardim de Gois (GO). Monitoring of the suspect continued to that municipality and, later, to Piranhas, in the same state, where he was located and arrested with R$14,074 stolen from the church.

He was taken to the municipal police station to prepare a police report. According to the police, the suspect has seven criminal records for theft in Gois.
