A ten-year-old boy woke up to find his father, mother and three brothers dead from gunshots. The case occurred in Oklahoma City, in the United States, on April 22. The information comes from the local police.
Police believe 42-year-old Jonathan Candy killed his wife, 39-year-old Lindsay Candy, and their children, 18-year-old Dylan Candy, 14-year-old Ethan Candy, and 12-year-old Lucas Candy. Then, Jonathan Candy would have taken his own life.
Investigators believe that the shooting began after an argument between the parents between Sunday night (21) and Monday morning (22), says a report from ABC News.
Jonathan then allegedly picked up a gun and shot his wife several times, before starting to shoot his children around the house.
It is not yet known why one of the children was spared or what the reason for the shooting was. The police had no record of previous contact with the family and there was no history of domestic violence.
The boy is in the custody of relatives and is not injured. He told police he was asleep and would not have heard the gunshots. His bedroom door was closed, and the noise from the running fan could have muffled the sound of the gunshots, Sergeant Gary Knight said. The boy called the police when he woke up and saw his family dead.
In a statement to the KFOR channel, the Candy family said they were devastated. “Our entire family was left shattered and confused with so many questions we will never have answers to. Jonathan was the one whose jokes and goofy attitude kept everyone smiling. Aside from these events, his children and wife were his entire life.” (Folhapress)
