Bricklayer’s assistant was killed by co-workers who suspected theft, police say | Tocantins

Divino de Oliveira was surprised and killed with shots and stab wounds while he was sleeping. The crime took place in the backyard of a house in the Maracanã sector, on August 7, 2023. According to the Civil Police, the suspects worked with the victim.

The case was investigated by the 2nd Homicide and Personal Protection Division (DHPP – Araguaína) and the investigation concluded this Monday (25).

According to delegate Breno Eduardo Campos Alves, investigations revealed that two men, who worked with Divino, suspected that he had some belongings stolen for this reason and agreed to kill him.

“This is a complex investigation, which involves a series of technical requirements, which meant that the 2nd DHPP was able to identify and arrest one of those involved in this barbaric crime that was committed on the mere suspicion that the victim was stealing items from the perpetrators, a fact that has not even been proven”, said the delegate.

One of the suspects was arrested in early March in Wanderlândia, after being found with a firearm. His name was not disclosed and his g1 he didn’t get contact from his defense. The other suspect is still being sought.

With the end of the investigation, the case was sent to the Justice and Public Prosecutor’s Office. Those investigated were indicted for double homicide, for a base motive and for using a means that made it impossible for the victim to defend himself.
