Santa Catarina retailer Koerich reached a historic milestone: it earned one billion reais in 2023 and became part of the group of billion-dollar companies in Santa Catarina. Next year, the company celebrates its 70th anniversary.

“This is a milestone that we have structured in recent years, together with professional management, understanding market demands, with advance planning and negotiations with the industry and always being close to our customers”, celebrates vice-president Ronaldo Koerich.
For the retailer, the numbers achieved reflect the engagement of a team, made up of over 1,500 employees. In Santa Catarina there are 127 stores, which are distributed in 65 cities. In addition to customers relying on physical stores, Koerich is also present on digital channels, where it also sells.
Koerich grew 16% in 2023
Data from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) shows that retail sales in the country increased by 1.7% in 2023. The sector’s growth can also be witnessed at Koerich. This is because the retailer from Santa Catarina grew 16% last year, being mainly impacted by the sale of furniture and electronics lines.
Rafael Koerich, director of innovation and people at Koerich, highlighted that the company maintains its strategic planning. “We maintain the accelerated expansion plan to continue growing.”
‘There is no such thing as luck, there is planning’, says Koerich’s president
In the last 11 months, the retailer has recorded growth above the target projected by the presidency. “There is no such thing as luck, there is planning, there is discipline, there are people who are engaged and happy and who make things happen”, says the company’s president, Antonio Koerich.
Reinforcing this positioning, commercial director Eduardo Koerich highlights that in 2023 the company started with a result below expectations and changes were adopted to change the scenario.
“We could have accepted that the market was bad and moved along with this result. But this is not part of Koerich’s DNA, so we dared, changed our communication, brought irreverence and got closer and closer to our customers”, he pointed out.
One of the pillars of this result is succession, already structured within the company. Three generations work in daily management: Antonio and his sons Ronaldo and Sérgio, as well as his grandchildren Eduardo and Rafael.
