The Government of Alagoas launches this Tuesday (25) the Student Heart Program, developed by the State Department of Education (Seduc) to work on the student’s socio-emotional development, ensuring the necessary conditions for promoting mental health and full social development of the students. The event will start at 11 am, at the Convention Center, with the presence of governor Paulo Dantas and secretary Roseane Vasconcelos.

The program focuses on specialized care provided by Seduc’s Strategic Center for Psychological Socioassistance Monitoring (NEAPSA), made up of 80 professionals, of which 60 are psychologists and 20 are social workers, who also work with attention and prevention in situations indicative of violence.

These professionals work in all state schools, interacting with students in listening actions that include lectures, conversation circles and dynamics. Based on what they identify, they will make appropriate interventions for each situation, including referrals to the Guardianship Council and to the support networks that are part of the Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), when necessary.

NATIONAL HIGHLIGHT

The creation of this nucleus helped Alagoas to consolidate itself as the second state in Brazil that most increased the presence of psychologists in public educational institutions in 2023, more than doubling the percentage – from 10% to 25% – as indicated by the School Census released this year. Second only to Santa Catariana. This performance was highlighted in a report by the newspaper O Globo, in the March 11th edition.

Student Heart arrives to further strengthen these actions, with professionals spread across the state and working in partnership with psychosocial support networks. “After what we went through in the pandemic, when we had to live with social distancing, society returned fragile. We had many losses. Young people, in particular, suffered a very strong impact and, therefore, the Government of Alagoas brings this program to work on the emotional health of our students and help them in this phase of new discoveries and self-knowledge that will be essential in their lives”, observes secretary Roseane Vasconcelos.
