The Brazilian Hotel Association (ABIH) reports a 50% increase in hotel bookings across Rio de Janeiro. Official data from Rio’s city hall estimates that the show will contribute a total economic impact of R$267 million.

“The artist is giving Brazil an unprecedented opportunity to popularize the activity of tourism, generally carried out by people from higher social classes, with this great free attraction the scope for the development of tourism in the most popular classes is opened, also giving space for tourism at no cost”, said the CEO of mymento.

The show takes place on May 4th at 9:45 pm. The stage will be set up in front of the Copacabana Palace hotel, as happens on New Year’s Eve, towards the Leme neighborhood. In total, there will be 16 towers for lighting, video and audio equipment. TV Globo, Multishow and Globoplay will broadcast the event.

It is expected to be the biggest performance of the artist’s career and entry will be free. There will not be any type of sales, but the organization assured that “die-hard fans” will have a space “almost on the stage”. There will also be space reserved for authorities and the press.

The singer’s show is part of the celebration of Itaú bank’s centenary, but will also be sponsored by R$10 million from Rio’s city hall. According to the city hall, the potential economic impacts of the show were calculated based on the city’s traditional New Year’s Eve celebration. The total impact of the event would be R$293.4 million, according to a study prepared by the municipality.
