Teacher is 24 years old and was about to get married
A 24-year-old teacher named Madison Bergmann, from an elementary school in Wisconsin, in the United States, was arrested on Wednesday (1st) for allegedly “hooking up” with her fifth-grade student. The case occurred less than three months before their wedding date.
Bergmann’s alleged abuse of the 11-year-old student came to light when the boy’s mother overheard her son talking to his teacher on the phone, according to CBS News Minnesota.
The boy’s parents found text messages between their son and the teacher. The father printed out the conversations and took them to the school, River Crest Elementary School.
According to the New York Post, the messages were about their meetings. Bergmann talked about being in the classroom during lunch or after class. She is also accused of telling the child how much she enjoyed being touched and kissed by the boy.
When she was detained, the police found a folder with the boy’s name on it. In it, there were many handwritten notes talking about how much they kissed.
In one of the letters, Bergmann wrote: “One of my cousins is in the 5th grade and I can’t imagine a man talking to her the way we did. I know we have a special relationship and I love you more than anyone in the world, but I have to be the adult here and stop.”
Bergmann told investigators that the student’s mother gave her the boy’s phone number in December, when she invited the teacher to spend the winter holidays in the Afton Alps with her family. That same month, Madiston had gotten engaged to her boyfriend of years. She would get married in July this year.
According to the Hudson School District, the teacher is on administrative leave and prevented from contacting any student, parent or district employee. She was released after paying bail of US$25,000 (approximately 127 thousand reais), but still faces a charge of first-degree child sexual assault.
