A young woman went viral on TikTok recording her surprise upon discovering that the store she worked in – as well as all other units in the Foxtrot chain – would close its activities. In the video, which reached almost 3 million views, Julia Harlos Limoncelli states that she learned the news shortly before the closure.
“We just found out that our stores close today at 12pm, it is now 10:14am. the entire chain [de trabalho] “It’s shutting down,” she says. “There are people here now, what are we going to tell them?” Then, the now former employee says that she had to expel all the customers who were still in the cafe.
In a statement published on its Instagram page, the Foxtrot network announced the closure of all of its 33 units, distributed across three North American states. The decision also affected two units of the Dom’s Kitchen & Market convenience store brand.
“We have explored many avenues to continue the business but have not found any viable options despite good faith and exhaustive efforts,” the company wrote.
According to the New York Post, the two brands announced a merger at the end of 2023, forming the Outfox Hospitality group, which employs around 1,000 employees. According to ABC 7 Chicago, the sudden closure prompted protests by network workers.
In the comments on Limoncelli’s post, users also said they were surprised by the news. “It’s crazy because Foxtrot is always so full. So where is the money going?” wrote one user. “Take everything home! (And I mean everything: carpet, wall art, espresso machine, food, shopping carts haha),” said another.
