According to the organization, two armored vehicles with the WCK logo were bombed shortly after leaving a warehouse in Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip, where the NGO had unloaded more than 100 tons of food that arrived in Gaza by road. maritime. All deployments had been coordinated with the IDF.

The Israeli Army recognized World Central Kitchen’s “vital effort” to “provide food and humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza” and promised an “in-depth analysis to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.”

Additionally, military spokesman Daniel Hagari called José Andrés to express “condolences.” “We will open an investigation to analyze what happened, and this will help us reduce the risk that such an event could happen again,” he said.

The United States government, Israel’s main ally, said it was “distressed and deeply disturbed” by the attack, while the European Union’s executive branch demanded an “in-depth investigation” into the case.

“Humanitarian operators must always be protected, in line with international law”, highlighted the European Commission. The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned the attack and called for the implementation of the UN resolution calling for an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza.
