In its message, Hamas highlighted the measures it wants to implement to improve the situation, such as trying to “control prices” during the conflict.
The group also stated that it is in contact with “all the components” of Gaza society, including other armed movements, popular committees and families, to try to “resolve the problems caused by the occupation”.
The humanitarian situation is catastrophic in the territory, already affected by an Israeli blockade imposed many years ago. Aid arrives in a trickle and the majority of the population is displaced in the south of the Strip, near Rafah, on the closed border with Egypt.
The war began on October 7, after Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Israeli territory, when 1,160 people were murdered, according to an AFP report based on data released by Israeli authorities.
Islamist commandos also kidnapped more than 250 people and 130 remain held in Gaza, including 34 who were reportedly killed.
In response, Israel promised to “annihilate” Hamas and began a military campaign against the territory, which has left more than 32,700 people dead so far, according to the most recent data released by the Hamas government.
