Edu Guedes will leave Band in the coming weeks. The broadcaster and the presenter are negotiating an amicable termination of the contract between the parties after almost four years of partnership.

As the agreement is complex, Guedes will remain in the air until the parties reach a middle ground. The objective is for this to happen by the end of May. The negotiation time is also the period that the Band needs to think about a new schedule.

Edu Guedes’s destination will be RedeTV!, where he worked between 2015 and 2020. There, he led the programs “Melhor Pra Você” and “Edu Guedes e Você”. Guedes has already had meetings with the management of TV in Osasco, and conversations are at an advanced stage.

The presenter has also promised to take his clients to the station, which already guarantees advertising revenue. Edu will take the place of Ronnie Von, who will have a weekly nighttime attraction instead of the morning daily that he has been in charge of since last year.

At Band, Edu Guedes runs “The Chef”, where he teaches recipes of the most varied types. The program has a poor audience, around 0.3 points in Greater São Paulo. Each point is equivalent to 191 thousand viewers.

Furthermore, the agreement model between Band and Edu Guedes has always been considered bad for the broadcaster. Brands that advertise in merchandising actions, for example, pay Edu Guedes, not Band.

Band admits that the agreement is not good, and that in addition to wanting to boost its audience, the broadcaster wants to have its own revenue. In place of Edu Guedes, the tendency is for Joel Datena, who already runs Bora Brasil, to gain more air time.

When contacted by the report, Edu Guedes did not respond until the last update. The Band has not yet commented on the case. (Gabriel Vaquer / Folhapress)
