After getting involved in a recent controversy, Arrowhead Game Studios commented on the decision to make the PSN link mandatory for Helldivers 2. According to the company, this was Sony’s choice and was supposed to happen weeks ago.

In recent days, members of the studio took to social media to comment on the case. According to them, making it mandatory for PC players would not be the developer’s decision and anyone who is unhappy should contact the manufacturer itself.
PSN blocking in certain regions causes problems for Helldivers 2
Part of the criticism was due to the blocking of the PlayStation Network in some countries. As there would be no way to access a PlayStation account, many players would be prevented from purchasing Helldivers 2.
“First of all, it’s Sony’s decision, not ours. Secondly, we still don’t have all the details on issues related to the region. We are chasing Sony for more information,” said community manager “Twinbeard” (via GamesRadar).
On Discord, moderator “Baskinator” added that this link was supposed to be activated since the game’s launch. As he puts it, Arrowhead is happy to “take action against reports” and “make the game safer”.
Sony has a dedicated team, a ban appeals process, and tools to take action on player reports, all of which tie into having a PSN ID.”
Helldivers 2 is Sony’s intellectual property, so it makes sense that they would want to use the tools they developed for these things.
Bombarded with negative reviews on Steam, the acclaimed cooperative shooter saw, for the first time, the “bad” side of the industry. This wave of hate motivated the studio’s CEO to issue an apology, stating that he just wants to create good games.
Helldivers 2 is available for PS5 and PC.
