As the Formula 1 circuit approaches the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, Williams team principal James Vowles expresses optimism about his team’s potential performance at the slowest circuit on the calendar. Historically, the team has excelled most at high-speed circuits such as Monza and Spa-Francorchamps, however, Williams’ 2024 configuration could change this trend.

In a video recently released by the team, Vowles shared his impressions of this year’s car, noting significant improvements compared to the previous season. “We have a car that is definitely more balanced than last year. It also performs much better in a variety of conditions – whether windy, rainy, dry or transitioning between these states. There are a lot of items that are simply better than before,” Vowles said.

This optimism is a reflection not only of the technical modifications, but also of an aggressive aerodynamic strategy that the team has implemented. “I believe we will do better in Miami than we did last year. Surprisingly, Monaco could also prove to be a strong circuit for our car in the upcoming races,” added Vowles, highlighting the importance of Monaco in the F1 calendar.

The Monaco GP is known for its tight curves and difficult overtaking, making aerodynamics and the car’s ability to adapt to different conditions even more crucial. Vowles emphasized the development race taking place in the league. “What you are seeing at the moment is a development race, an aerodynamic development race between the teams, and we have to make sure we are fighting at the front of that race.”
