Tandara, suspended for doping, plays Brazilian Master and could have an increased sentence

The opposite Tandara Caixeta is suspended from professional activities for doping. The volleyball player could have her sentence increased by eight years for participating in a masters competition.

Tandara played the Brazilian Masters Championship last weekend. The competition is not linked to the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV). Because she was suspended, the athlete could only participate as a coach, trainer, as well as in administrative positions in sports organizations.

The punishment, applied in 2022, prevents athletes from participating in events financed by public bodies and from attending sports venues. The Brazilian Masters Championship was sponsored by the city of Santos.

The Brazilian Doping Control Authority (ABCD) is aware of and is investigating the case. If the violation is confirmed, the original punishment is reapplied. This would remove Tandara, 36, until 2029. The player has not officially commented on the case.

Suspension

Tandara tested positive for ostarine in July 2021, a substance banned in competition and outside of it. The substance modulates metabolism and can help gain muscle mass.

The player was notified during the Tokyo Olympic Games. After being notified, she left Japan back to Brazil. The athlete competed in the tournament with Brazil until the quarter-final stage.

Tandara played for Osasco, Pinheiros, Brusque, Vôlei Futuro, Sesi, Campinas, Dentil/Praia Clube, Gerdau Minas, Guandong Evergrande-CHI and Sesc Flamengo. The player was the Superliga MVP in the 2011/2012 season.

The player ran for the position of federal deputy in 2022, but was not elected. She tried to create a volleyball team in Campinas, but due to lack of sponsorship, the team did not complete the season.
