President of Doping Control talks about Gabigol’s suspension

The attacker Gabigol is suspended for two years due to allegedly trying to defraud a surprise anti-doping test carried out at Flamengo’s CT. Therefore, he cannot act at the moment.

The player’s defense has already filed an appeal with the CAS (Sports Arbitration Court), in addition to try to suspend the sentence. Meanwhile, Gabi continues training at home, as he cannot attend Fla’s training sessions.

Now, it was the turn of the president of the Brazilian Doping Control Authority (ABCD), Adriana Taboza, to talk about the Gabigol case. The executive highlighted that it is not a case of persecution of the number ten.

“I have no interest in Gabriel’s punishment, quite the opposite. We present the data to the court, the court makes the judgment, based on the evidence. He is appealing, he still has a chance to reverse it. I hope he gets through this moment, I hope he plays again“, he said, in an interview with the Mundo Rubro-Negro portal.

Furthermore, Taboza stated that there are no complaints against the professionals who took the exam in Ninho do Urubu and which led to the entire trial.

“There are no complaints about the conduct of the officers to be investigated at this time. The trial takes place at the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport, in Switzerland), which the parties must address at this point in the process, regarding any fact”, explained Taboza, who concluded.

“In the end, CAS will publish its decision, which will naturally be communicated to ABCD. At this moment the process is closed in Brazil.” Now, it remains to be seen what Gabi’s future will be regarding this suspension.

Meanwhile, Flamengo tries to improve football and consequently results on the field. The team lost to Bolívar, 2-1, away from home and now faces Botafogo, on Sunday, at 11am, in the Brasileirão.
