Formula 1 has announced the launch of a new free, 24/7 streaming service for the United States, Canal F1. The new feature arrives in time for the Miami GP, next week, and will offer varied content for motorsport fans.

The channel will show reruns of F1, F2, F3 and F1 Academy races, as well as documentaries and classic GPs. There will also be detailed expert analysis, but these will only be available five days after the race weekend.

The initiative is a bet by F1 to further expand the North American market, which has been growing significantly in recent years, especially after the success of the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’. F1 director of media rights and content creation, Ian Holmes, believes in the potential of the new service.

“The F1 Channel is the latest development from Formula 1 to evolve and elevate the content experience for fans. This service caters to the diverse viewing habits of our US fan base and serves as a great entry point for new fans through curated programming that aims to showcase the reality of F1. Together with C15 Studio, we look forward to developing the F1 Channel into an industry-leading product,” said Holmes.

It is worth noting that live broadcasts of races in the USA will continue to be shown on ESPN channels and the F1 TV service.
