Murcia (Spain) – Just like big names in sport, Spanish Carlos Alcaraz decided to use his influence as a high-level athlete to make a difference in the lives of children and young people in situations of social vulnerability. This Wednesday, the current world number 3 announced the launch of his own foundation.

Based in Murcia, the 20-year-old tennis player’s hometown, the Carlos Alcaraz Garfia Foundation was created with the aim of eliminating the obstacles that needy children face, promoting their rights and guaranteeing their well-being, as the organization’s website says. The initiative will be based on three central pillars, using sport as an instrument of inclusion, movement as a health promoting agent and social awareness to face everyday problems.

Appointed as the president of the foundation, Alcaraz celebrated the beginning of the work that aims to impact children in the region where he grew up and developed as a tennis player. “Today is a special day for me. Let’s work to help the little ones with all our strength,” he wrote online.
