With each speech, Rodolfo Landim shows heightened narcissism. He’s that type of person who doesn’t see history or the reality around him. Of so many nonsense statements, this one about saying that “Zico will pass one day” deserves to be highlighted. It’s a total lack of knowledge about Flamengo, the club he presides over.
I imagine a scene, a fiction… Landim looks in the mirror and asks “Mirror, mirror of me, is there anyone more beautiful and important than me?”. And the mirror responds: “Yes, Landim, Zico is more beautiful and more important than you.” And then comes that revolt inside him and, at that moment, he loses track and says things like that.
I’m not going to explain here why Zico is eternal in Flamengo, in world football, and that in 100 years the Maracanã will at some point shout “ZICO, ZICO, ZICO, ZICO”. I also don’t need to go out of my way to say that Rodolfo Landim will be just one of many presidents of the club and there will be no music from the stands. In fact, Márcio Braga will always be more important than Landim because he was responsible for the greatest team in the club’s history, in 1981. Zico, Júnior, Leandro, Tita, Mozer, Andrade, Adílio, Júlio César and all those who were born and raised in the Gávea will always be bigger and more important than him.
