Seven more deaths from dengue are confirmed in RS

Last Monday, the 29th, the State Health Surveillance Center (CEVS) confirmed seven more deaths from dengue in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, totaling 116 deaths from the disease in 2024.
The deaths are of an 89-year-old woman, resident of Três Passos, and with comorbidities; a 74-year-old man, resident of Santa Maria, with comorbidities; a 70-year-old woman, resident of Liberato Salzano, and with comorbidities; a 58-year-old man from Crissiumal, with comorbidities; a 62-year-old man, resident of Canoas, with no comorbidities; a 38-year-old woman, from Porto Alegre, with no comorbidities, and a 71-year-old woman, resident of Santa Cruz do Sul, with comorbidities.

Vaccine
Still on the afternoon of Monday, the 29th, a meeting took place between technicians from the State Health Surveillance Center and representatives of the National Immunization Program, to plan the vaccination action against dengue in the municipalities covered in RS. It was also clarified by the Ministry of Health that the receipt will be staggered, with the first part of a total of 126 thousand doses, in a quantity yet to be made official, with delivery expected to the State Department of Health for this Tuesday, 30th.
According to the definition of the Ministry of Health, children and adolescents between 10 and 14 years old will be vaccinated, the age group that has the highest number of hospitalizations due to dengue fever nationally in recent years. Furthermore, the vaccine is not authorized for people over 60 years of age.
