O Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) made an important decision that directly affects Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs) and domestic employers across the country. The obligation to register with the Labor Electronic Domicile (DET)initially scheduled to begin on May 1, 2024, was extended to August 1 of the same year.

The date change was officially announced by the MTE through a publication in the Official Gazette of the Union, guaranteeing those involved additional time to adapt to the new requirements. This change aims to facilitate the transition process to the new digital system that promises to revolutionize communication between employers and labor tax auditors.

Understanding how DET works

DET is an innovative digital platform, created by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, which seeks to optimize and standardize electronic communication between employers and the Labor Inspection. This digital tool facilitates the sending of information related to administrative acts, tax procedures, subpoenas and other notifications in an efficient and secure manner.

The labor inspector, Bruno Carlo Wanderley, highlights the importance of registering in the system. According to him, “it is essential that all employers keep their contact details updated in DET to receive alerts about new messages and remain compliant with tax and labor obligations.”

How do I register with DET?

To register or update your contact details DETemployers must access the system’s official website, using their Gov.br account credentials with silver or gold security level, or through digital certificate (e-CPF or e-CNPJ). Once the contacts have been updated, the employer may even delegate access to the DET to third parties through the Electronic Power of Attorney System – SPE.

Bruno also warns that, after being notified by a tax auditor, the employer has up to 15 days to respond before the notification is considered tacit. “It is essential that everyone respond to notifications to avoid fines and actions based on article 630 of the CLT”, emphasizes the auditor.

Benefits of joining the electronic labor domicile for employers

The use of DET brings a series of advantages to employers, including reduced travel and operational costs. The digitalization of services promotes greater transparency and efficiency in the processing of documents and information, in addition to contributing significantly to sustainability by reducing the need to use paper.

DET extension: be on time!

Therefore, with the new deadline extension, employers have an excellent opportunity to organize themselves and ensure that all processes are up to date, taking advantage of all the benefits that DET has to offer. With up-to-date information and an effective communication channel, DET promises to be a great ally for employers in fulfilling their labor obligations.
