The narrator Diogo Medeiros, from the channel Cruzeiro Sports, he said after Cruzeiro’s goalless draw with Unión La Calera, this Tuesday (23/4), in Chile, in the third round of Group B of the Copa Sudamericana. In the professional’s opinion, the ‘coupeiro’ profile of the celestial club, two-time champion of America, no longer exists.

“I will say, with a lot of sadness in my heart, that the feeling I have is that Cruzeiro is over. I speak with the greatest pain in my heart. When I say it’s over, it’s not that the institution should close its doors and cease to exist, I’m talking about the winning Cruzeiro, the ambitious Cruzeiro, fighting for the title”, began Medeiros.

“You have no idea how bad it is to feel this. When will we be Cruzeiro again? Are we going to be Cruzeiro again? We’re here beating up Seabra, Mateus Vital, Papagaio, but it’s not their fault. It’s Ronaldo’s fault. It’s Tara Sports’ fault, which is the owner of Cruzeiro’s CNPJ”, added the narrator, who once again criticized the SAF Celeste board.

“My thought is this: when will Cruzeiro become Cruzeiro again? In my opinion, in Corinthians hands, it won’t be. In the hands of people who have no idea what Cruzeiro is, it won’t. We, the fans, are acting like fools, while Ronaldo does whatever he wants”, he concluded.

South American Cruise

Cruzeiro drew for the third time in the Copa Sudamericana after finishing 0-0 with Unión La Calera.

With the result, Cruzeiro reached three points in the competition and ended the third round of Group B in third place. This is because Universidad Católica, from Ecuador, won 3-1 against Alianza, from Colombia, and took the lead.

Cruzeiro does not depend solely on its own strengths to be first in Group B of the Copa Sudamericana. In addition to winning the remaining three matches, they have to hope that Universidad Católica stumbles at home against La Calera or Alianza.

Thus, the tendency is for Raposa to fight for second place in the bracket, which grants a place in the playoffs against one of those eliminated third in the Libertadores. To achieve this, it will be essential to beat Alianza (away) and Unión La Calera (home).

Depending on what happens in the fourth and fifth rounds of Group B, Cruzeiro could face Universidad Católica, already guaranteed in the lead. If the Ecuador team beats Unión and Alianza, they will increase from seven to 13 points and secure the top of the group.

Group B of the Copa Sudamericana

  1. Universidad Católica, Ecuador – 7 points
  2. Unión La Calera, from Chile – 4 points
  3. Cruise – 3 points
  4. Alianza, from Colombia – 1 point
